What to expect from the GLIB Seminar
A typical day at The Berlin Seminar begins with breakfast and engaging conversations at the Literaturhotel. The group then walks together to the U-Bahn and travels to Literaturhaus for a 2 to 2 ½ hour discussion with invited experts. The format of these sessions is especially effective because presentation time is kept to 20-30 minutes, while the bulk of the seminar is spent in extensive Q&A, during which targeted inquiries are answered comprehensively and in sufficient detail to allow for a meaningful transfer of knowledge from those acting in the field to those observing it. The morning sessions are followed by lunch and a subsequent site visit in the afternoon. In each case, the group’s interest is not simply to see the site, but rather to use the location as a necessary part of understanding the work that is being done there. Evening activities include readings, theatre performances, or occasional social outings.
