German Literary Institutions: The Berlin Seminar, June 4 - 15, 2023
We are now accepting applications to take part in the 2023 Berlin Seminar. The seminar is open to faculty of all ranks and advanced graduate students in German Studies and related fields. It brings together scholars of German literary and cultural studies with experts and leading figures of Germany's literary scene.
Key Details
- Seminar conducted in German
- Residential seminar – all fellows stay in the same hotel
- Fees: $2,000 for faculty; $1,250 for graduate students
- Fees cover lodging and breakfast, several group meals, including dinners at the beginning and end of the seminar, mass transit passes, expenses for excursions, theater tickets, and seminar-related cultural events
- Enrolled participants are eligible for flight subsidies up to $1,500, pending receipt of a grant
from the Max Kade Foundation - Participants are expected to stay for the duration of the seminar and attend all scheduled
activities
Application Instructions
All applicants
- List name, faculty rank or year in graduate program, department and institution
- Letter of motivation (1-2 pages)
- Explain how this seminar fits among your interests;
- Describe why and how the seminar will benefit your research and/or teaching;
- Attach an updated CV
- Please have your principal advisor send us (directly, via email) a letter of endorsement.
